Harry Potter Series

I. About the Film

Harry Potter is a British film series based on the Harry Potter novels by author J. K. Rowling. The series is distributed by Warner Bros. and consists of eight fantasy films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and culminating with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).
The series was mainly produced by David Heyman and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as the three leading characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Four directors worked on the series: Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates. All eight movies had their screenplays written by Steve Kloves, with the exception of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), written by Michael Goldenberg. Production took over ten years to complete, with the main story arc following Harry Potter's quest to overcome his arch-enemy Lord Voldemort.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final novel in the series, was adapted into two feature-length parts. Part 1 was released in November 2010, and Part 2 was released in July 2011.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the only film in the series not among the 50 highest-grossing films, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the highest-grossing film in the series and one of 26 films to gross over $1 billion, ranking at number 8. Without inflation adjustment, it is the second highest-grossing film series with $7.7 billion in worldwide receipts.

Born in Paris and brought up in Oxfordshire, Watson attended the Dragon School as a child and trained as an actress at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. She rose to prominence after landing her first professional acting role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, appearing in all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, previously having acted only in school plays. The franchise earned Watson worldwide fame, critical accolades, and more than £10 million. She continued to work outside of the Harry Potter films, first lending her voice to The Tale of Despereaux and appearing in the television adaptation of the novel Ballet Shoes. Since then, she has taken on starring roles in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring, made a brief appearance as an "exaggerated" version of herself in This Is the End, and portrayed the title character's adopted daughter in Noah.

My Featured Fashion Show

Zara

I. About the Clothing Brand

Zara is a Spanish clothes and accessories brand, it is the flagship brand of the lnditex group. Few clothing brands keep up with the latest fashion, are of high quality and yet, affordable. It is probably the amalgamation of all these qualities that made Zara, the Spanish clothing brand become the go-to fashion brand for all. Zara sells both Men's and women's clothes. They also sell shoes, cosmetics and accessories. Recently they started with children's clothes as well. The secret to Zara's success largely was because of the way it kept up with street fashion with the changing times. The brand takes a look at stores in a week or two. Most other fashion brands would take a whole six months to get their new designs into the market.

II. About the Designer
I find it incomprehensible that there are 210 designers working there. That would mean each designer put out 52 designs per year which is appalling performance (albeit typical of push manufacturers). Again, if the latter is true, there’s lots of slop in Zara’s development and I could only expect those numbers to improve to the detriment of push manufacturers the world over. A range of 200 to 400 styles per designer per year depending on the type of garment would be closer to target productivity. Rather, I think it’s more likely they have 210 people working in design, in other words, a total of 210 designers, pattern makers, technical designers, sample makers, and CAD operators working in the product development department. That seems more likely, still that’s not accurate either because there’s administration of the design system and what percentage of the 210 are included there -if any? If one assumes the worst, that it is true that Zara employs 210 designers (or close to that figure), push manufacturers the world over are in much worse position than ever. If Zara’s output is that prodigious with that much slop -because they will improve- with respect to design staff, push manufacturers are never going to catch up.

III. My Reaction

A. Reaction Point - coiffure(髪型(特に女性の髪))
   ●  The arrangement of the hair (especially a woman's hair)
  • Everyone isn't tying hair to the model who has gone out to ZARA inverno 2016.
  • Neither a long hair person nor a short hair person are tying.

B. Reaction Point - makeup(外観を改善したり、変更するために、顔に適用される化粧品)
   ●  Cosmetics applied to the face to improve or change your appearance.
  • It depends on worn clothes, everyone puts on his make-up to there, it isn't thick.
  • There are a lot of think people only a lipstick.

C. Reaction Point - accessory(あなたが着けるバッグ、ベルトや宝飾品などの何か)
    ●  something such as a bag, belt or jewellery that you wear.
  • There was a model who shoulders a gorgeous necklace and a cool backpack, too.
  • A decor which matches clothes is worn.

D. My General Opinion

I didn't know that ZARA was the brand from Spain.I found out that clothes of the cool system are sold as animation.I didn't have clothes so much, so I thought if there was this chance, I bought it in ZARA.

My Featured Film

The Elevator

I. About the Film

I Chose to analyse the short film ‘Elevator’ by Greg Glienna because comedy is my favourite genre, and the genre of the short film i am planning to make. It is similar to the one we plan to make because it is set in one location, and not many props are used and it is very simple. We do not have a budget and for this reason we must plan our short film realistically and make sure every scene can actually be carried out and filmed.     This short film was written and directed by Greg Glienna, the creator of ‘Meet the Parents’ and ‘Meet the Fockers’. He also plays the lead role.  Todorov’s theory of equilibrium can be represented in this short. The film starts of with a relaxed man in an elevator. A disruption occurs when a group of overweight people enter the elevator, exceeding the weight limit. A new equilibrium is set when the man leaves the elevator to enter a new one, filled with people who have swine flu. Levi Strauss’ theory of binary opposites can also be shown in this short. Binary opposites refers to the coming together of opposites. In this case, its skinny VS overweight, healthy VS unhealthy.       The main character is of middle class. You can tell because he is well groomed, has an expensive phone, and he is wearing smart clothes. He is also looking down at the people around him as if he is of higher status and more important.     It is shot in the elevator of a hospital. You can tell because the elevator is filled with overweight and un-well people. These are health related issues. Most short films have one, fixed location due to the limited time available. It also keeps costs low and simplifies the production process. High key lighting was used throughout the film. Most comedies use high key lighting to create a positive and lively feeling. It also gives us clear vision of what’s going on. For example, the weight of the people, what they’re wearing, their age and surroundings. It makes it easier for the viewer to analyse what’s going on. It is very easy to analyse the characters. The is a clear difference between the main characters and the extras. The extras have a very simple role. Little experience and movement is required in short films, as it is a simple job. The costume of the characters are very important because it explains their background.

IV. My Reaction

My Featured Novel

The House of the Seven Gables

I. About the Novel : Plot

The novel is set in the mid-19th century, but flashbacks to the history of the house, which was built in the late 17th century, are set in other periods. The house of the title is a gloomy New England mansion, haunted since its construction by fraudulent dealings, accusations of witchcraft and sudden death. The current resident, the dignified but desperately poor Hepzibah Pyncheon, opens a shop in a side room to support her brother Clifford, who has completed a thirty year sentence for murder. She refuses all assistance from her wealthy but unpleasant cousin, Judge Jaffrey Pyncheon. A distant relative, the lively and pretty young Phoebe, arrives and quickly becomes invaluable, charming customers and rousing Clifford from depression. A delicate romance grows between Phoebe and the mysterious attic lodger Holgrave, who is writing a history of the Pyncheon family.
The house was built on ground wrongfully seized from its rightful owner, Matthew Maule, by Colonel Pyncheon, the founder of the Massachusetts branch of the family. Maule was accused of practicing witchcraft and was executed. According to legend, at his death Maule laid a curse upon the Pyncheon family. During the housewarming festivities, Colonel Pyncheon was found dead in his armchair; whether he actually died from the curse or from a congenital disease is unclear. His portrait remains in the house as a symbol of its dark past and the weight of the curse upon the spirit of its inhabitants.
Phoebe arranges to visit her country home, but plans to return soon. Clifford, depressed by his isolation from humanity and his lost youth spent in prison, stands at a large arched window above the stairs and has a sudden urge to jump. The departure of Phoebe, the focus of his attention, leaves him bed-ridden.
Judge Pyncheon arrives to find information about land in Maine, rumored to belong to the family. He threatens Clifford with an insanity hearing unless he reveals details about the land or the location of the missing deed. Clifford is unable to comply. Before Clifford can be brought before the Judge (which would destroy Clifford's fragile psyche), the Judge mysteriously dies while sitting in Colonel Pyncheon's chair. Hepzibah and Clifford flee by train. The next day, Phoebe returns and finds that Holgrave has discovered the Judge's body. The townsfolk begin to gossip about Hepzibah and Clifford's sudden disappearance. Phoebe is relieved when Hepzibah and Clifford return, having recovered their wits.
New evidence in the crime that sent Clifford to prison proves his innocence. He was framed for the death of his uncle by Jaffrey, who was even then looking for the missing deed. Holgrave is revealed as Maule's descendant, but he bears no ill will toward the Pyncheons. The missing deed is discovered behind the old Colonel's portrait, but the paper is worthless: the land is already settled by others. The characters abandon the old house and start a new life in the countryside, free from the burdens of the past

III. About the Author :
Nathaniel Hawthorne ( born Nathaniel Hathorne; July 4, 1804 – May 19, 1864) was an American novelist, Dark Romantic, and short story writer.
He was born in 1804 in Salem, MassachusettsSalem, to Nathaniel Hathorne and the former Elizabeth Clarke Manning. His ancestors include John Hathorne, the only judge involved in the Salem witch trials who never repented of his actions. Nathaniel later added a "w" to make his name "Hawthorne" in order to hide this relation. He entered Bowdoin College in 1821, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1824, and graduated in 1825. Hawthorne published his first work, a novel titled Fanshawe, in 1828; he later tried to suppress it, feeling it was not equal to the standard of his later work. He published several short stories in periodicals, which he collected in 1837 as Twice-Told Tales. The next year, he became engaged to Sophia Peabody. He worked at the Boston Custom House and joined Brook Farm, a transcendentalist community, before marrying Peabody in 1842. The couple moved to The Old Manse in Concord, Massachusetts, later moving to Salem, the Berkshires, then to The Wayside in Concord.  The Scarlet Letter was published in 1850, followed by a succession of other novels. A political appointment as consul took Hawthorne and family to Europe before their return to Concord in 1860. Hawthorne died on May 19, 1864, and was survived by his wife and their three children.

Much of Hawthorne's writing centers on New England, many works featuring moral allegories with a Puritan inspiration. His fiction works are considered part of the Romantic movement and, more specifically, Dark romanticism. His themes often center on the inherent evil and sin of humanity, and his works often have moral messages and deep psychological complexity. His published works include novels, short stories, and a biography of his college friend Franklin Pierore.

D. My General Opinion

Ancestors concerned with witch hunting of Salem as a judge were really, and the author seemed to have a sense of guilt with a pride in it and thought whether the pin juns which a crime and the spell followed in spite of being a noble family was a projection of the figures of the author.
